: sweet teeth and dress-up games at the fred flare opening :

Sweet Tooth of the Tiger set up shop for a Bake Sale -- minus the Sale (treats compliments of fred flare!) so I guess it was just a Bake. Meanwhile, their trusty sidekick doled out champagne and beer. Horray!

Playing dress up in a store -- always fun. Note: sweet earrings from indie earring designer Kula (kulahallie@gmail.com). I love them!

Cupcake hat!

Nevermind the tu-tu -- check out that rock! That's right, I took all my student loan money out of the bank to invest in something that can't hyperinflate. Plus, it's always fun to be engaged to yourself . . . alright, I'm kidding of course. Geez, I hope you knew that -- I'd never buy a diamond!

The competition -- luckily, a peace treaty was formed. I would've hated to see the Tiger unleashed.

: street art / culutre jam / democracy in america :

subway culture jam . . .

and the following are from Creative Time's Democracy in America show. There was so much other great stuff there. Work and talks by Critical Art Ensemble and Trevor Paglan (to mention only a couple). . .

The Center for Tactical Magic gave away ice cream treats and radical information on everything from Green Cleaning to the US prison system.

Andy Bichlbaum from the Yes Men reads from his (as yet unpublished) utopian-democracy newspaper. The public then gave suggestions for future articles.

: . . . if I were an earring . . . :
I'd probably be one of these rad honeys from Kula.

Dangly, lightweight, sterling silver, and neon beads. . . most importantly, they're handmade with love, ingenuity, and lots of rebel-spirit. Kula plans to open a store on Etsy soon, but in the meantime you can get more info at kulahallie@gmail.com

: Holy War :
the opening of David LaChapelle's show

these photos barely scratch the surface -- there were so many crazy done-up hipsters in the gallery, but it was next to impossible to move, let alone get a photo. Thanks to my accomplice, PL, for taking these . . .

: Live with Animals / Secret Project Robot :

You remember before you went to your first exhibition opening and your imagination was going wild thinking about all the crazy stuff that could potentially happen there? Then you arrived and it was just a bunch of people standing in circles, sipping wine and generally acting too good for you? Well this one went beyond the realization all of my craziest art-opening dreams and into the realm of legend. Performance, sublimely freaky and beautiful art, audacious outfits, and lots of music. Of course, free beer would have been nice, but I don't need to push my luck.

d.i.y. hotness rocks.

: Vancouver :

This is like that t-shirt that says "My Parents Went to Wherever and All I Got Was This Crappy T-Shirt." I went to Vancouver and there were scads of fashion forward hipsters but all you get is a half-assed fashion shoot. Sorry. I was on vacation.
